The newly introduced \u00ab\u00a0<\/span><\/b>Sportstyle<\/span><\/b>\u00a0\u00bb category bundles the retail association’s <\/span><\/b>know-how<\/span><\/b> across countries for the growing <\/span><\/b>market <\/span><\/b>of<\/span><\/b> s<\/span><\/b>neakers and streetwear.<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab\u00a0In each of our countries, there is an individual focus on certain categories. Austria and Switzerland, for example, are highly specialized in winter sports, while Germany already has a high degree of specialization in team sports and running,\u00a0\u00bb <\/span><\/i>explains Marc Scheiner, Head of Division Lifestyle at SPORT 2000<\/span>. The \u00ab\u00a0Center of Excellence\u00a0\u00bb approach enables the know-how that each country brings to the table to be shared in a transnational network<\/span>.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

\u00ab\u00a0We no longer speak for just one country but for several. <\/span><\/i>Together<\/span><\/i> we have a<\/span><\/i> significantly greater weight with suppliers and brands<\/span><\/i>.\u00a0\u00bb<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

In addition, communication is made easier for industry partners, as there is now only one specialized contact for all countries.<\/span><\/p>\n

Athleisure: a trend with great potential <\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

In addition to sports categories such as running<\/a> or winter sports, another \u00ab\u00a0center of excellence\u00a0\u00bb has now been introduced in the form of \u00ab\u00a0Sportstyle\u00a0\u00bb. This category also includes sneakers<\/span>. \u00ab\u00a0Sneakers have a purchasing volume of up to 10% at SPORT 2000 Germany. <\/span><\/i>Around 5 years ago, SPORT 2000 Germany launched the Sneaker Force specialist unit, which now includes the best independent sneaker stores in Germany.<\/span><\/i>\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

This<\/span><\/i> trend means that for a classic generalist, the <\/span><\/i>Sportstyle<\/span><\/i> category can account for 10 to 20% of total sales. The focus on <\/span><\/i>Sportstyle<\/span><\/i> and sneakers is relevant in the big markets of Germany, France, Benelux<\/span><\/i>,<\/span><\/i> and Italy, but the potential is felt for all of Europe,<\/span><\/i>\u201d<\/span><\/i> Scheiner explains. <\/span>The popularity of the athleisure trend is highlighted by the fact that every second person, in every age group, wears sneakers for business or leisure<\/span>.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Sneakers, fashion, and accessories<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

In general, Sportstyle breaks down into three main categories: Textile (hoodies, sweatpants, caps, etc.), Sneaker, and Hardware (backpacks, bags, sunglasses). <\/span><\/p>\n

When it comes to product design in these categories, the transitions between sport and lifestyle are often blurred. <\/span>\u00ab\u00a0While technical aspects play a greater role in performance categories<\/span><\/i>, the design is the priority in <\/span><\/i>Sportstyle<\/span><\/i>,\u00a0\u00bb<\/span><\/i> explains Marc Scheiner, mentioning the performance-oriented hiking boot as an example in comparison to the fashionable sneaker<\/span>.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

\u00ab\u00a0Brands come and go faster in the <\/span><\/i>Sportstyle<\/span><\/i> sector. It is therefore important to have a good brand mix, an appealing space to present <\/span><\/i>those<\/span><\/i> brands<\/span><\/i>,<\/span><\/i> and a well-trained staff,\u00a0\u00bb<\/span><\/i> emphasizes the SPORT 2000 expert.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Young target group prefers to buy online<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

\u00ab\u00a0Trend brands in particular appeal to a new, young group of customers. <\/span><\/i>T<\/span><\/i>o reach the core target group between the ages of 15 and 30, online retail is necessary in addition to stationary retail,\u00a0\u00bb<\/span><\/i> Scheiner knows. However, sporty fashion is by no means limited to Generation Z. <\/span><\/p>\n

Sneakers in particular have long since established themselves in everyday life. It is important for us as a retail community to work together with relevant brands in a future-oriented way.
